EVENT

2025/10/21

The Hiroshima Architecture Exhibition 2025 is now underway across seven venues, including museums, hotels and temples, in the cities of Fukuyama and Onomichi. The first installation of this new triennial event features 23 groups and individuals, ranging from world-renowned architects to emerging creators who will shape the future, participating in exhibitions, talks, workshops, and film screenings.

ONOMICHI U2 is hosting the exhibition “The Now and Then of Japanese Architecture as Seen in Zines,” curated by architect Shinichi Kawakatsu of the Centre for Co-Architecture Kyoto (CoAK). The exhibition displays a selection of zines created by young Japanese architects alongside rare visual books on architectural themes, some of which are available for purchase.

The word “zine” comes from “magazine,” and refers to independently produced magazines and visual books. Visitors can experience the unique zine culture of young Japanese architects. Additionally, Mobile Kiosk — Small Architecture Project by Hideyuki Nakayama is installed at Olive Plaza. The exhibition runs until Sunday, November 30.
